Jason Eyster

Composer, Lyricist, and Playwright

Jason Eyster studied composition with Lawrence Widdoes at The Juilliard School and has composed scores for the PBS Special “Education Unbound” and numerous dance and theater productions. He is a two-time recipient of Creative Artist Grants from the Michigan Council for the Arts.

From this musical, Jason has created “A Medley for the Only Man” for wind symphony orchestra, which premiered in 2023, and “Someday,” a string quartet recorded by the London Mozart Players. His musical works span from intimate chamber pieces to full orchestral compositions.

As a master craftsman, Jason has built over 700 lyres sold internationally and restored an Indonesian zither for the University of Michigan Stearns Musical Instrument Collection. He is also the author of the young adult novel Amanda and Harper’s Call, published by the International Folk Harp Society.

Jason’s diverse career includes serving as Executive Director of Ars Musica, the Baroque Orchestra, and as a law professor at institutions including Peking University School of Transnational Law. A Princeton University and Fordham Law School graduate, he founded and served as Editor-in-Chief of the Fordham International Law Journal. He has been recognized in Who’s Who in America and The International Who’s Who in Music.
